What are the standardisation requirements in relation to assessment?

-          The External Influences related to the assessment, which are the teaching and assessing governing bodies, the qualification standards, the qualifying bodies, and other related organisational bodies (Health & Safety etc…)

-          The qualification Aims and intended learning outcomes for specific unit and criteria within a set of qualifications

-          The criteria on which External and Internal Verifiers are excepting Assessors to support students in performing in a learning environment

-          The methods of learning that will trigger a learning process that is conductive to all learners passing a qualification

-          The methods of assessment and different tasks that students will perform to achieve a qualification

-          The marking methods use based upon criteria set by IV/EV, qualification aims

-          The feedback methods used which must be opened and offer student’s the ability to give their input into the learning and achievement process

-          The candidates, the team has to consider the candidates on the course, as their contribution to the evaluation of the learning and assessment process support the management and assessing team in validating and enforcing standardisation and policies

 Upon the above, it is then clear that the process of Quality Assurance benchmark is set with the followings;-

 -          Quality Assurance Team sets

  • The benchmarks upon the set standards
  • Standards and code of practice, and policies in teaching and assessing
  • The monitoring process that will ensure that staff are supported  in the teaching and assessing (this include observation process, and monitoring of students)

-          The teaching and Assessing team upon the above are responsible for;

  • The program specifications (this include time-table, learning and assessment schedules and processes, as well as monitoring and verification processes)
  • The effective monitoring of teaching and learning ensuring that documentation, statistics, and also samples of learning and assessments are available at all times for managers and other monitoring purposes, and  provides candidate evidence upon request

 

-          The Verification team

  • Ensures that all the above are strictly followed by assessors ensuring the methods of delivery and assessment of learning are meaningful, reliable, valid and fair. The verification team also sample students views, this could be through meetings, notes etc…
  • Monitors and supports the teaching and assessing team in the delivery and assessing process with set routines;
    • Monthly learners reports
    • Assessors/teachers observation of teaching and assessing
    • Academic planning, term planning, curriculum planning
    • Internal Verification panel meetings
    • Moderation meeting panels

-          The Learner

  • Through learner centred meetings and other different forms of obtaining feedback, the teaching  and assessing team, as well as Verification and management teams can then amend and monitor issues within a course of study, and ensure good implementation of
