Step 1. Defining your key Audience
Who is your primary target audience?
To be able to design a site that is attracting enough for your visitors you need to be able to define them and what they do. The visitors are your site’s main focus; and you are creating a site that will get them hooked to your content.
Task 1= Take 20 minutes to decide what type of audience you need
Step 2. Defining your key goals
What do your really want to gain from this site?
You need to define you key goals and requirements:
Determining the purpose of the site:
- Boosting the literacy and numeracy levels for children (6 to 7)
- Encouraging parents to support children outside the class
- Encouraging parent to take children on day trips and encourage wider knowledge
- establishing the functional requirements

Target Audience Your goals Requirements Children (6 to 7) Get the to learn numeracy/literacy, reed and write through games. Widen their interest in learning by encouraging them to take part in competitions Educative Flash Games, online learning activities, directory of activities for children in London Parents Will read weekly, monthly, activities which are related to their children activities in class. Help their children with homework. Understand what activities could be interesting to help their children develop download worksheets, follow children progress Task 3= Take 40 minutes to decide to create a table like the one above and
Step 2. User expectations
From the above table you need to try and research and understand your user(s) expectations.
It’s is time for you to research your audience:
- Using questionnaires
- Or the profiling techniques
Based on the expectations you can look at your site’s specifications.
